Flare (the "app") is published by studio Ivryn (Victor Laybats). Contact: contact@flareflights.com. We collect only what we need to find you flights and run the features you use. No resale of data, no third-party ads.
1. Data we collect
Location: with your permission, precise or approximate location can prioritize nearby departure airports. If you decline, Flare can use an approximate country inferred from your network address. The app works without precise location.
Account (optional): if you sign in with Google or Apple, Firebase Authentication provides the account identifier and available profile details, such as name and email. This links account-based features such as Travel Buddies and Flare Pro access.
Notifications and preferences: Firebase Cloud Messaging provides a push token. Your country, chosen destination codes and alert settings can be sent to Flare's server to deliver the alerts you enable.
Local app data: favourites, saved trips, journal notes and unshared journal photos are stored on your device. They are not represented as cross-device account sync.
Travel Buddies: this is opt-in. Publishing a Passport or sharing a trip stores the selected public profile, Passport and trip data in Firestore. Photos selected for a shared trip can be uploaded to Firebase Storage.
Flare Intelligence: your message, any image you explicitly attach, recent conversation context and the optional profile, journal or location context you choose to provide are sent through Flare's backend to the configured AI service. Current fare records are added by Flare. Map, itinerary and place-list requests use current OpenStreetMap data. Hotel cards use current Booking.com data for the exact dates you provide.
Subscription: Apple or Google bills Flare Pro. RevenueCat receives the identifiers and purchase status needed to manage entitlements. Flare does not receive your full card number.
Aggregate product measurement: the app and website send a limited set of event names, such as a view or store click, to Flare's measurement endpoint. The store records daily aggregate counters, not a visitor profile or free-text content.
2. How we use it
Solely to detect abnormally low flights near you, run the features you use (account, buddies, journal, AI, subscription) and send the alerts you enable. No resale, no third-party ads.
RevenueCat: subscription management. Apple / Google: in-app purchases.
Aviasales / Travelpayouts: flight-fare data and booking redirection. Some partner booking links may earn Flare a commission at no extra cost to you; other booking links may not be affiliate links.
AI processing: Flare Intelligence may use OpenRouter and a routed model provider, or Anthropic, depending on the configured production route. Only the content and optional context described above are submitted. OpenStreetMap / Nominatim: place search, maps and itineraries. Booking.com via Travelpayouts: hotel availability and booking links for dates you provide. ipapi: approximate country. Pexels: destination photos.
PostHog US Cloud: processes sanitised public-site events with a fresh anonymous event identifier, a zeroed IP property and person-profile processing disabled.
Data is encrypted in transit with HTTPS/TLS. We do not sell personal data and Flare has no third-party advertising.
4. Your rights (GDPR)
You may request access, correction or deletion using the deletion page or by emailing contact@flareflights.com. Signing out does not delete server data. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes local data from that device, but a separate request is needed for account and shared server data.
5. Retention
Local data remains until you clear it or uninstall Flare. Account, push, public Passport, shared trip and AI service data is kept only as needed to provide the feature, meet security or legal obligations, or until a valid deletion request is completed. Aggregate measurement counters are not linked to a person. Apple, Google and RevenueCat may retain purchase records required for billing, tax or fraud prevention.
6. Minimum age
Flare is for users 13 and older (16+ where the law requires).
7. Aggregate measurement without advertising tracking
Flare counts aggregate app and website events without advertising identifiers, a tracking cookie, fingerprinting or a persistent visitor identifier. The measurement store does not receive email addresses, message content or URL query strings. Network addresses used to transport and rate-limit requests are not written to that aggregate store. After validation, a sanitised server-side copy of public-site events is processed by PostHog US Cloud for 12 months under the current project setting, without a stable visitor profile or session replay.
